Happy Thanksgiving
This year has been up and down for me. Things have changed so much and I grew up mentally and emotionally. I have to thank ton of things that are part of my life.
1. Baseball and MLBlogs

Without baseball or MLBlogs, I don’t know how I will stand rand continue right now. So thank you Mark for creating this wonderful blogosphere. I love this sport so much and it is part of my life. My dream is to be a baseball reporter like Jenny Cavnar for the Padres, Erin Andrews for ESPN, Trenni Kusnierek and Hazel Mae for MLB Network, etc. This year was completely different from my previous years as a baseball fans. I went to a Padres game three times this year and I paid attention to Jenny Cavnar and how she was doing as her job. I even took notes as my reference to look back to study. I’m still dreaming and I truely believe that I will be the next reporter for the Padres.
2. The Ecksteins

I never got free tickets from two famous people. I never recieved and e-mail from an actress. And I never had a baseball player who knows me and pronounced my name prefectly in a first try. But on August 22nd, I went to a Padres-Cardinals game thanks to the Eckstein. Before that day, I did get an e-mail from Ashley. And yes. David Eckstein recognized me and pronounced my name perfectly. I was freaking out for several days and it was so incredible to get treated from the Ecksteins. Being happy and thankful for them is not about the tickets, jersey and a card I got. It’s about getting honored by them. Someday, I want to meet Ashley and have a good conversation just like what I did with David. I can’t thank them enough and I’m definitely looking forward for next season when I see David Eckstein back in action, playing baseball.
3. Everth Cabrera
Even though he didn’t win the rookie of the year, he is my winner. He developed so much through out the season and I am so thankful to have him as a Padre. If our front office didn’t get him, Padres could’ve end up in middle of nowhere. Everth didn’t start off the season hot but I love the energy and talent he brought to this team and it is truley an honor to have him as a great shortstop. He made 23 errors last season but I bet he is going to cut the number in half. Or more. I love, love this guy. Next year, I plan to talk to him in my not-so-perfect Spanish at Fan Day. Everth, eres muy talentoso y no puedo esperar hasta el próximo año. (That means: Everth, you are so talented and I can’t wait until next year.)
4. Rest of my boys
![]()

I know the Padres are not the best team among 29 others but I’m thankful for just having them in San Diego. This team is getting younger and younger but I like where this team is going and I believe in them. This year, they finished fourth place, which was better than last year’s. I love how they showed so much energy for 162 games. We didn’t win the World Series, yet. Next year could be our year. Who knows for now? I strongly believe in them and I need to have baseball with me very soon. I miss all of my boys so much and I can’t wait until spring training.
5. My dear readers, which includes my family and friends
Without you guys, I wouldn’t blog consistently and end up quitting. I love getting e-mails that says a new comment has been added on my blog. I am lazy when it somes to commenting but I always read and enjoy your blogs. I thank Kaybee and Julia for commenting on my entries almost all the time. And my rest of my readers of course. Thank you guys so much too. It’s fun when there is a fellow Padres fan like Kaybee in the blogosphere and actually meeting her. My friends, if you are reading this I thank you guys so much. I’m one crazy fan but thanks for understanding me. You guys rock.
So happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Great article! I think it’s awesome that you got to be close to the Ecksteins. He was always a fav of mine (2006 WS MVP – Woot Woot!) and it is so refreshing to see Major Leaguers give back to the community. I’m thankful for all of the above too. Happy belated Thanksgiving!
