Future Star of Today: Casey Kelly

We made it! The long wait is over and baseball has finally arrived. Spring baseball means full of best guesses which makes spring training entertaining; we’ll never know how it will turn out. The reason why I love spring training is that there are storylines, competition, and prediction. There are always few or more surprises from the players which make the build up to the regular season.
I started following prospects during last year’s spring training. They are just so exciting to watch and interesting to follow. Sometimes it’s the ones that we least expect to make a huge impact. The one who caught my attention is Casey Kelly, 21-year-old right handed pitcher.

He was a first round draft choice in 2008 by the Boston Red Sox not only as a pitcher, but as a shortstop as well. Kelly also played football in high school but turned down a full scholarship to play quarterback for the University of Tennessee in order to pursue a baseball career. The top minor league prospect in the Red Sox organization was acquired by the Padres after the 2010 season along with two other prospects in exchange for the three-time all-star first baseman Adrian Gonzalez.
Although Kelly was an exceptional defensive shortstop with a strong and accurate arm, his struggles at the plate showed that pitching would be his best path to major league. He has shown an advanced feel for pitching as such a young player with terrific mound presence and great mechanics.
“It’s been a great experience so far … being out here and being around the guys. You’re trying to learn as much as possible and soak in as much as you can. You’re trying to pick up as many things as you can for the season.”
I love the fact that he takes time to be with the coaches and experienced players for advice. It shows me that he has great potential and he wants to learn to develop as a pitcher. I tip my cap to Kelly. I love his attitude and his grit.
It is likely that he will start the 2011 season in AA to develop even more. If he is able to improve his command and control, there is actually a chance we will see him at the major league level before the end of this season. However, we really need to take things slowly with him. I’m hesitant with not only Kelly but minor league players in general because I think the transition from the minors to the majors is the biggest for them, and it’s so tough mentally as well.
Casey Kelly has it all. The talent, the knowledge, and the maturity. I’m sure he is going to blow everyone away in double-A but the key is to take things slow and efficiently. Kelly as a middle guy of the rotation is something to look forward to in 2012 or 2013.
Short and Sweet
Thank you Trevor Hoffman.

Trevor Hoffman announced his retirement on Tuesday.
Whenever the Padres led the game by one or two runs in the ninth inning, I remember getting goose bumps whenever Trevor ran to the mound to secure Padres’ wins. Watching him on the stands is always memorable. All the great times Trevor shared with the city of San Diego will be secured in my mind for a perpetual amount of time.
It broke my heart to hear that he was done after 18 seasons and 601 saves. He’s an incredible player and an incredible person. His days with San Diego are unforgettable. The days he saved 1, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 saves are unforgettable. The day he became the all-time saves leader is unforgettable. But most importantly, Trevor being the greatest closer of all time will never go away.
I love him, I thank him, I congratulate him. He’s not a Padre nor a baseball player anymore, but he will forever be a Padre.
Thank you Trevor for all the amazing saves. Thank you for all the breath-taking strike outs. Thank you for all the smiles you put on fans not just in San Diego, but all over the country. Thank you for being a historical baseball icon.
Countdowns and such.
Padres Fan Fest will be held on February 12th. I can’t tell you how excited I am about this event. I haven’t been to Petco Park for couple of months so I desperately want to go to my “house” again. Last year’s Fan Fest was full of fun. I can’t wait to do this again in 28 days. I made a list of things to do for last year’s Fan Fest. I can hardly wait to get autographs of the Padres, tour the clubhouse, walk around the bases, take bunch of pictures with my new camera, interact with my Padres fans and so on and so on. I’ll have a complete list of things to do about a week before the Fan Fest so stay tuned!
Pitchers and catchers report will be on February 13th, right after the Fan Fest. This is great not only because baseball is getting closer but because I will blow out candles on the 13th. The report is a sign that players will be in action on baseball fields. I can hardly wait.
Now, is it spring training yet? Well, not quite. Mandatory spring training will be in 40 days. I can finally get a glimpse of what the Padres will look like during the regular season. I’m starting to get really excited about this season. I can’t wait to see what the Padres are able to do.
2011 regular season will arrive in 76 days. Padres will be in St. Louis for their first three games. Then the Friars will head home and face the rival San Francisco Giants on April 5th. Baseball is slowly but surely on its way. I can almost smell it now.
First Half Recap of 2010
First half of the 2010 season reached its finish line but this San Diego team made a magnificent impression to the fans, analysts, and many others in the baseball sphere. Before and during the beginning of the season, there were so many doubters who thought the Padres will not have a spectacular season, play baseball under .500, and received more negative criticisms than positive criticisms. Sure, there were those who thought the Padres will turn up a notch or two but in general, these people were not so sure about the Padres. However, this team proved the doubters wrong even during spring training.
Spring Training:

Technically, spring training is not the first half of the 2010 season but it should be included in the first half because it is bonus baseball for the fans. March baseball can determine an outcome for the team and even how they will play throughout the regular season.
The Padres reunited on February 18th from the long off season and it was time to get back to business for everyone. Throughout the course of spring training, Padres and the fans discovered talent from the veterans and the youngsters. The start of spring training was shaky but this team never quit and bounced back to finish the training with a solid record of 18-10-2. The chemistry of youth and experience became successful and the Padres were prepared for a major test; bouncing back from an abysmal 2008 season and some what blooming 2009 season.
April: 15-8

Game 1 and opening day of 2010 took place in Arizona and unfortunately, Padres could not capture a win against the D-Backs and lost with a score of 6 to 3. Three days later, Padres hit the road again. This time, the duel took place in Colorado against the Rockies. Rockies celebrated their home opener on that day by beating the Padres 7 to 0. The six road games were shaky for the Padres. However, the Padres shined when they returned home for their home opener against the Atlanta Braves. Padres worked together as a team and beat the Braves with the score of 17 to 2. It was a great way to start off the season at home, especially with a jaw dropping score like 17.
As April rolled on, the Padres even had a huge eight game winning streak to stand alone on top of the NL West. On the 19th, David Eckstein, scrappy player who is not a home run hitter type of guy, sent everyone home with his walk-off home run of the season. That was when unrealistic became realistic.
You can check out my entry “April Evaluation” for top 5 greatest moments for the month of April.
May: 16-12, 31-20 overall
May was filled with ups and downs for the Padres. Kevin Correia’s huge loss made an impact for his game time and started to struggle ever since the day he came back from the bereavement list. He needs to check the time and realize that he is taking too long to come back. However, nothing but the best and luck go out to him whenever he is on the mound doing his job. Kevin Correia in April will be in the near future.
Mat Latos shined on May 13th when he tossed a complete game, one-hit shutout against the Giants in San Francisco. He was absolutely stunning on the mound and took the spotlight. Beginning of the season, there were fans who thought Mat should be sent to the bullpen and even be sent down to the minors because he is very young. Mat proved the doubters and haters wrong by showing his great performance and he is still proving, which is excellent. He is continuing to mature as a great pitcher and his future seems very familiar to a former ace, Jake Peavy. Is Mat Latos the next Jake Peavy? Could be.
Padres continued to work hard as a team and reached to the place they wanted to be at, which is first place. The doubts started to vanish little by little and surprises appeared from the fans. “May Evaluation” is also available.
June: 15-12, 46-32 overall

June was filled with interleague games and surprisingly, the Padres did a good job not getting dominated by the American League teams. We are not the best when interleague approaches. This year, the American League teams that played against the Padres consisted of the Mariners, Orioles, Blue Jay, and the Rays. Padres finished the interleague series with 7-5 record. It was very pleasant to see these boys turn things around during mid-June baseball from the previous ones, when they had difficult time playing against American League. One of the reasons why this year’s interleague was much different from the previous years was that the Padres took the series from the Tampa Bay Rays, a great looking team in the east. Overall, this series deserved two thumbs up.
You guessed it. You can check out “June Evaluation” to learn more about the month of June that the fantastic Padres had.
Current record of July: 5-5, first half record: 51-37

The last few games has been a downside for the San Diego Padres. In the beginning of July, Padres took three games out of four against the Houston Astros in the homestand. However, the Padres started to struggle, especially with pitching. Besides Mat Latos, the starting and relief pitchers did a below average job. Mat Latos was dominant and even awarded himself with his first career home run against the Nationals in game 3. He is young, but his pitching and performance is veteran quality.
Relief pitcher Luke Gregerson’s incredible slider did not slide very well against the Nationals and even against the Rockies. Luke is one of the best relief pitchers for the Padres bullpen and it was frustrating seeing him struggle. Two things that stood out were 1. Luke was used in so many games during the first half of the season. And 2. Luke is worn out and needs a break. Padres should not rely on Luke Gregerson all the time. He is a human and he needs to rest every once in a while. This All-Star break approached at the perfect moment and Luke will get his much needed break.
Another reason why the series against the Nationals and Rockies were so difficult is that not only the Padres lost two games out of three against Washington and Colorado, but also the four games they lost were in an extremely close fashion. All four games were either down by one or two runs. These games show that one or even two mistakes can cost the game and suffer the consequence with a loss. In order to avoid these devastating losses, mistakes should be avoided at all times.
So that will do for the first half of the 2010 Padres. Padres really proved so many that they do not back down and do not give up at all times. This team is unstoppable but they stlill have homework they need to do over the All-Star break. After the break, things are going to get more serious. The San Diego Padres, team with a great mixture of youth and veteran players, will remain in first place for a long period of time.
Padres fall, but…
Sorry I haven’t been blogging and didn’t reply all of your comments. I’ve been really, really busy lately. I’m back though. But I think I’ll be blogging really late from now on. Anyways, I’ve missed few Padres games but I got all of them covered. Today’s game was against the Angels.
Adrian Gonzalez is back! He started off great by hitting a two-run homer. Adrian also played for Team Mexico in WBC. Gonzalez had two home runs in 22 WBC at-bats for Mexico. For today, Padres’ Chris Burke doubled and scored on David Eckstein’s single. Padres fell short and lost. Final score was 10 to 5. Cha Seung Baek started off for the Friars. He made his sixth Cactus League start. He struggled today. And I mean A LOT. I mean, nine runs in 4 2/3 innings? That’s just ridiculous. No other words to describe it. He also gave up six runs in the fifth inning. Ouch! I have some concerns with this guy. If he’s going to give up ton, and I mean a ton, of runs, he definitely should not be the No. 3 starter. I personally think Kevin Correia deserves to be number three. Speaking up Kevin Correia, he will get the start tomorrow against Cleveland. GO KEVIN AND PADRES!
Now the “but” part. Kaybee is going to the Fan Fest with me!! So is Jen! Oh my gosh, I can’t wait! When’s April 5th?? This is a huge oppertunity for me. Plus, I have NEVER been to Padres’ Fan Fests. It’s a chance to see my Padres up close, getting autographs, 200 pictures, meeting awsome bloggers in person, and most importantly, a great time. I heard that there is going to be a garage sale. To be honest, I don’t have ANY Padres items such as jersey, hat, etc. Except Jake Peavy glove I got last year when I went to PETCO. The garage sale will end up taking most of my money so I’ll just end up buying a shirt or something. By the way, the friars will be having a special team workout at the Fest too. It’s always exciting to see the Padres get prepared!
Fan Fest, Fan Fest, Fan Fest. It’s been in my head for hours now! I’m that excited already!! Another exciting news: I’m going to David Cook’s concert with my sister! That concert isn’t until June but we got our tickets to get the best seats possible. Unfortunately, we didn’t. But it’s a decent seat
People took the best seats as soon as the date was released. I don’t mind though. Again, I’ve never been to a concert so this is an another great news for me!
My day went by GREAT after the two news

What’s going on?
Padres are falling instead of rising! Yesterday, they lost another game to the Chicago freaking Cubs. Final score was 5 to 3. On the good side, Kyle Blanks hit his fourth homerun of the spring training. Today was a two-run with two outs in the first. Blanks now leads the team in homeruns, (11) RBIs, hits, runs scored, total bases and walks.WOW! That’s amazing. I have high hopes and expectations from that guy. Another high expectations I have is Kevin Correia. However, yesterday was not a good day for him. He gave up four runs on eight hits, three walks over 4 2/3 innings, and struck out three.
I’m starting to lose my patience a bit. Their record is now 4-13-3. I know they can do better than that but.. UGH! It just does not happen the way I want it to be. I keep thinking that it’s only spring training and it’s not that big of a deal towards to regular season. What concerns me is that I see them lose more than win.
Lately, this word has been on my head: pitching. Padres have about 34 pitchers to Spring Training. That’s almost a 40-man roster! Back in 2006, solid bullpen helped the Padres win the NL West, and also led the Major Leagues in ERA in 2007 with 3.06). What happened after the two spectacular seasons? They fell apart in 2008, with a 4.45 ERA and 34 bullpen losses. Pitchers like Mike Adams, Trevor Hoffman and Heath Bell had good years, but something was missing. Several of the pitchers who did well during 2007 like Jake Peavy, had a disappointing year in 2008. It’s not only his fault. Padres hitters could not back him up! Baisically, not enough runs to support Jake to let him wins Jake made 27 starts, with 2.85 ERA and 10-11 record.
Now I’m fast-fowarding to Spring Training, 2009. Last week, Padres signed former Mets reliever Duaner Sanchez to a Minor League deal. So make that about 35 pitchers now. Well I hope he has good stuff in his arms. Speaking of relievers, Cla Meredith is pitching pretty well this spring. Mark Worrell, on the sad side, is going to miss the entire 2009 season due to elbow surgery.

ENTIRE SEASON?! I heard good reports from this guy but no offense, it was a waste. Yeah, Padres traded Khalil Greene to acquire a pitcher that’s going to miss entire season. Did you know that Greene is batting .395 in the Grapefruit League, and is second on the Cardinals with 12 RBIs? In the other hand, Padres’ new shortstop Luis Rodriguez is batting .238. Silly Kevin Towers had to say this.
“You just never know,” said GM Kevin Towers. “We had good reports on Worrell. It’s part of the game, unfortunately. But we had to move some salary and were able to do that with Greene.”
*SIGH* He brought me back the memories of Greenie.
List, list, list
ONE: My sister got accepted to UC Irvine!
TWO: My brother (AKA who’s playing as the Pirates) are playing aganist the Padres tomorrow. So good luck with that, my sibling.
THREE: Speaking of Padres, they lost to the White Sox today. Losing on a Friday the 13th… Did you know that there’s gonna be another Friday the 13th on November? Oh anyways, Cliff Floyd hit his first home run of the spring in the third inning, as a pinch-hitter. Luis Rodriguez went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Catcher Nick Hundley drove in a run with an RBI double. Rookie Cedric Hunter had one hit, which was pretty good. On the White Sox side, Jen’s beloved player, AJ Pierzynski had two hits. Starting pitcher for today’s game, Chris Young allowed a solo home run to Paul Konerko and a double to Josh Fields in the second inning. It didn’t stop. He allowed an RBI single to Konerko in the third inning. So overall, Chris allowed two runs in three innings with two walks. Reliever Mike Ekstrom had a heck of a rough game by allowing six runs. Mark Worrell and Greg Burke combined to allow five earned runs. To summarize all this, Padres’ pitchers did not-so-pretty-looking jobs throwing. Things like that happen, so I’m cool with that. But what concerns me is that it constantly happens. Well, I can’t just go up to their faces and say, “Please do better for us and yourselves.” So all I can do is wait and see.
FOUR: The Padres will play a split-squad game tomorrow. One game is in Peoria against the Indians. Cha Seung Baek will get the start and is scheduled to throw four innings. He did a pretty good job on his last outing. So I’m expecting something similar of him tomorrow! Then the friars will go to Scottsdale and face the Giants. Cesar Ramos will get the start. As always, GO PADRES!!
FIVE: I’ve been doing photoshop lately. So I want to share them with you guys.
Bonus
Yeah, all of them look kind of tacky but I did my best. If you like it, I’ll make more, if you don’t, I’ll stop
So that ends my list for today.

Victory against Korea
How exciting was that? Very. I’m not talking about how I’m excited that the Padres won. I’m talking about who Padres faced yesterday. It was against my country, Korea. Last night, I rushed through my homework and sat in front of the tv to watch the game.
There were bunch of faces that I didn’t know on team Korea. And I felt bad, really. So mostly, I was going for the Padres, because I’ve known them longer and better
Friars had a quite of offense last night. Brian Giles had two hits and drove in two runs. Chase Headley had a two-run double off the wall in center field in the third inning. Chase added another two-run double in the fourth. Kyle Blanks reached base twice and had an RBI double in a fourth inning, when Padres had a six-run rally. Cliff Floyd added two hits, and so did Jody Gerut.
Starting pitcher Kevin Correia did everything he could and it worked. He only allowed one hit and one walk over four innings. Correia dominated the Koreans with five strikeouts, the best outing of the spring for him. After Corriea was Wade LeBlanc, who had three shutout innings, allowing two hits with two strikeouts.
So, it was a great game. Also nice to see Padres with a victory. I’m going to go ahead and move onto today’s game now. It was against the Milwaukee Brewers. It ended few minutes ago. Guess what? We tied. 10 to 10 in 10 innings
Well, it’s better than losing! But we really should have won. Emil Brown hit a two-run double in the first inning! Kyle Blanks hit one deep in the third, a huge three-run home run. Koooooz also hit a homerun, a two-run in the seventh. Padres scored three more runs in the eighth inning to tie the game at 10. Chase Headley was 2-4 with two RBIs
Up next is the Chicago White Sox, Jen’s favorite
Chris Young is expected to start and scheduled to throw four innings. That game’s tomorrow and I can’t wait already. As always, GO PADRES!!
Padres Report
First of all, I missed the game that was from yesterday. So I want to do a quick little recap of the game. It was against the Rockies. Padres lost that one, 4-2. Yeah, they gave their best but still couldn’t manage to win that one!! Oh well. Starter Chris Young gave up four runs on five hits. One of the hits were from Todd Helton. Relief pitcher Nick Schmidt gave up a hit and a walk in two scoreless innings. Basically, Chris Young’s one and only first rough inning cost the game. It happens to other pitchers so I’m not blaming on him.
That’s that. So today’s game was at Tucson. It was a heck of a game! The friars won big time. Final score was Padres 16, D-Backs 3. I love it!! Sorry Caroline. There were lots of runs so it was an exciting game. Non-roster catcher Eliezer Alfonzo hit a three-run homer and an RBI double. He had a very great game. Kaybee’s favorite Kevin Kouzmanoff had three doubles in four at-bats. Brett Dowdy hit a three-run double and Drew Macias added a solo HR in the ninth inning. I gotta say, Arizona’s starter Jon Garland gave up six runs on six hits in 2 1/3 innings. OUCH! That was painful. Hopefully, he won’t do that again unless if it’s against the Padres
Today’s San Diego pitcher Cha Seung Baek proved that he deserves to be a solid number 3 starter. He gave up one run on one hit with two strikeouts in three innings. It’s very nice to see him improve. I was expecting to see him do that so.. Jae Kuk Ryu, a relief pitcher, had the bases loaded with one out in the fourth, but forced Chris Snyder into a double-play grounder. That was excellent.
Even though I missed today’s game, it was very happy to see the Padres finally win after rough games last weekend. They need to keep it up and finish spring training games strong. Padres are off tomorrow, but they will face Team Korea in a World Baseball Classic exhibition on Wednesday in Peoria. By the way, Korea beat Japan, 1-0! Not the best score but I’m still happy about it. Kevin Correia is expected to start. He is scheduled to pitch anywhere from three to four innings, I think Correia is a pretty good pitcher who deserves a shot of being in the pitching rotation and lock it. He is consistant and knows how to work his pitches. The game would be very exciting on Wednesday! Hopefully, I won’t have homeworks on that day
There have been some negative thoughts about the Padres from the scouts. Here are some of the things Union Tribune mentioned:
Scouts consider the team’s No. 3 starter, Cha Seung Baek, more of a No. 5 starter or long reliever. They say No. 4 starter Kevin Correia may be better as a reliever but, echoing manager Bud Black’s comments, see some promise as a starter if he can develop his change-up. Concerns linger about No. 5 candidate Josh Geer, whose frayed elbow ligament raised talk last offseason that he would need reconstructive elbow surgery.
Cesar Carrillo – the club’s first-round draft pick in 2005 – is falling off some prospect lists. Nearly two years removed from reconstructive elbow surgery, Carrillo is showing a subpar fastball. His accuracy and body language also are grading below average.
Catcher Nick Hundley, the son of a college football coach, continues to earn strong reviews from Padres pitchers and manager Bud Black for his attention to detail. “We’re throwing a lot on him, but he’s got it in him,” Black said. Scouts say Hundley still has rough edges to smooth. Being pigeon-toed makes it more difficult for him to move well laterally. He is showing good arm strength but isn’t receiving the ball as smoothly as scouts would prefer.
None of the utility infield candidates are proving reliable at shortstop.
I don’t know if I should agree with them or not. I get what they are saying, but it just sounds… more like a negative!
I had a substitute for my science teacher today. Her name was Mrs. Giles. Haha. Brian Giles
I almost started laughing because I thought of him right after she introduced herself. Oh man, that wasn’t even funny. I don’t know why I was acting like that.
All right, I’m done for today so goodbye everyone. See you guys next time whenever I visit :) Peace.

Up and down
I’m going to start with the down first.
I finished watching the Padres game few minutes ago. David Eckstein had a double in his first at-bat, an RBI single and then a sacrifice fly. He had a good game. Brian Giles played for the first time in a week because of a strained left quadriceps. He also had an RBI single in the third inning. Leadoff hitter Will Venable had two singles and drove in a run. Kevin Kouzmanoff had a hit in two at-bats with an RBI and was solid at defense. However, things were not goiing smooth for today’s starting pitcher, Josh Geer. He struggled in his second start of the spring by allowing two home runs, two doubles and three runs in the first inning. He allowed another home run (third HR), in the second inning before he left. Justin Hampson had to take over. Boy, it was a really tough game for Geer. Cla Meredith threw scoreless inning so it was a good work for him. I’ve noticed that young pitchers struggled. Because of that, Padres used 7 pitchers in one game. Cesar Ramos also had a tough game. He allowed six runs in two-thirds of an inning. No offense, but that was pathetic. Six runs? I almost couldn’t believe it. Chris Britton in the other hand, did a little bit better than Ramos by allowing three walks in one-third of an inning and giving no runs. I was actually laughing when I saw that inning. It was that bad! So the final score this afternoon was Oakland 15, Padres 6. They beat the crap out of the Padres. I don’t blame the pitchers though. They gave their best. And it’s only spring training. This will help them to get prepared and that’s a good thing. I really hoped for a win today. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen. The Padres will travel to Tucson on Sunday for the first of two games. They’ll face the Rockies on Sunday. This time, Padres REALLY need to beat the Rockies
Then the friars will play the Diamondbacks on Monday. Chris Young will start against the Rockies on Sunday. He is scheduled to throw three innings. I don’t know who’s going to pitch against Arizona but I hope the Padres can win the two games that’s coming up. As always, good luck, hopefully a victory, etc. and GO PADRES.
Since I’m feeling sad about the game today, I’m going to talk about the good side. Team USA beat Canada! Final score was 6-5. Jake Peavy pitched today so it was really nice to see a Padre to start. He allowed two runs on two hits and three walks but he needed 58 pitches to get through three innings of work. One of the two hits Jake allowed was to Joey Votto from the Reds. But really, a Toronto native. He hit a home run to right field in the third inning. U.S. catcher Brian McCann was excellent. He had three RBIs, including a two-run homerun off from a team Canada starter, Mike Johnson in the fourth inning. First baseman Kevin Youkilis hit a solo homerun in the fourth inning as well! Adam Dunn also had a two-run homerun to put the team in lead.
Wow. It was a great and a close game today. Hopefully, team USA can win comfortable by scoring plenty of runs to put them in the lead safely. Go USA and of course, Korea
Again?
Today’s game took place at Peoria, and the Padres played against the Rockies. This was a game was filled with huge runs, and I mean HUGE. Unfortunately, the Padres fell behind again and lost by the score of 13-11. I didn’t listen to the game, but I was proud that the Padres finally showed what they can do, even though they lost.
In the fifth inning, Padres were trailing 5-1, until Chase Headley’s ball went deep. It was a huge three-run homerun from him! Kyle Blanks also hit a solo homerun and had two hits total for today. Both homeruns were from the new Rockies reliever, Huston Street. Chris Burke for the Padres drove in a run and also had two hits. Leadoff hitter for today was Drew Macias. He reaches base twice so it was great for him. Huge credits to Chad Huffman! He’s a new guy that I never heard of (and I feel terrible about that!), hit a grand slam! It happened in the ninth inning with two outs to pull San Diego within two. However, all those hits were not enough to pull of with a win.

(Chase Headley, you the man! Credits to Padres website.)
Starting pitcher Kevin Correia is looking forward to be the number 4 starter for the Padres during regular season that’s coming up soon. He allowed two runs in the first inning and then didn’t allow a hit over the next two innings. That was consistent and he did a good job throwing. Wade LeBlanc however, didn’t go as well as Kevin Correia. His goal is to earn a rotation spot. Today, he allowed two runs with three hits in two innings. Chad Reineke made his first appearance in spring training struggled as well. He allowed two runs in the sixth inning. I know they are young guys (exception fo Kevin Correia). I know they stuggle. But they have to get through this. This is getting ready to be prepared for 6-month games.
Padres gave all they had, but suffered with another loss. It’s great that they finally showed scoring oppertunities and actually driving them in. Their current record is 2-4-2. Hmm… what’s next? Can they improve the record? It seems that they are struggling a bit but they can turn it around. I just know it! Josh Geer is up tomorrow to make his second start against the Oakland A’s in Peoria. I can FINALLY listen to the broadcast since tomorrow’s Saturday! On weekends, I’m stuck at boring Middle School with no Padres games whatsoever. I already have plans for tomorrow: sit back, relax and enjoy baseball
And not worry about Algebra homework because I don’t have any! The scheduled pitchers to throw are: Cla Meredith, Chris Britton, Mark Worrell, Cesar Ramos and Matt Buschmann. Good luck to every, single players and as always, GO PADRES.
(Off-topic) Currently, I’m learning how to play “Viva la Vida” by Coldplay on my violin by myself. It seems pretty hard to learn from the Youtube video I watched. Hopefully, I can manage to learn it completely.
